The Society.

I have many offshore things to do at this time of year, so I only periodically emerge. Today's emergence is to follow a long line of tradition in this year of
Ji Chou
.

In the foothills, China appears from the air to meet up at my distant stilt home of serene with walls of paper and screens. The dark cherry woods blending along with the teak. The paper of hand made fashioned in between the wooden slats. The flooring is caressed with my bare feet, as I walked in meditation to meet. I fetched my guzhuang for the day, a delicately ornate piece. It has been made for this occasion alone. I placed my long dark brown hair up in the traditional manner and added my silver combs in the appropriate places. Making sure as to not leave any strand to betray its true color of deep red highlights when I step outside into the real light.

It is warm and the sun is rising below the mountain horizon, yet the glow is embracing. As my getas grace the moist dewed grasses beneath, we hurry across the familiar village path that leads us to the Crane Valley. The days are closing in you see, and we have yet to journey to view the sea of lights that adorn Air Itam. The journey begins fairly early, as the hills and valleys await the day's travels and we have others joining along the way. The Chi flowing downward into the ventured path is magnificent and the air is full of vitality and positively charged. Each step I take, I can't help but soak in the excitement, along with the uncertain knowing of all things in the circle of yin and yang. The feeling of simplicity and understanding.

We finally reached the festival site, Chik Chia. Everyone was positively radiant and the feeling of good will is impressed by all that had arrived. Nature had embellished herself with bright colors and the deepest greens one could imagine. Water is the music that fills the air. The trees wave to all who pass by. The Sun and Moon glance over the occasion. The celebration continues for 7 more days. Yet today was the day chosen for us to attend, as Lulin is nearby and shall arrive soon.
