Origins Of A Bean.

A group of us sitting amongst a dive. The topic of conversation being that of coffee and how other countries use different localities all over the world for producing their beans. As we searched out where each blend originated from, it was spoken by one that they could tell where one specific type was derived from - as it had that "African Aftertaste". I tried to repeat the way it was spoken, as it held grandiose oration, and ended up fumbling out the emphasized part. In retrospect, I said try to say that five times fast, and all failed. I think we laughed so hard that some produced tears.

hi A!

i had a great laugh reading this post - it's soooo true! Coffee has taken a connesieur-like pretension once reserved for wine collectors! i wonder what's next ???

when i lived in guatemala, i will admit that over a year of drinking coffee, i could taste the difference between coffee from the market; coffee grown in Antigua (a high priced coffee) and the 'raw' coffee my plantation owning neighbor brought me (ughhhh!) it had something to do with how bitter was the aftertaste.

but now? i couldn't tell you one 'roasted bean' from another - i rarely drink coffee anymore!

great post and sounds like great fun!
