Iceland Vs. Greenland?

I thought Erik the Viking named Iceland because it was green, and Greenland because it was ice? Yanno, to throw off any followers to keep them away from good territory. I have yet to visit Greenland. In sailing to Iceland, all one sees is dark cold blue waters and huge chunks of white ice floating here and there. If you were in flight it would resemble a Discovery Channel episode on the North Pole. It makes one feel as if they are on the top of the world, yet there is a sense of nothing else existing. I pulled into port in Iceland. This country renowned for wind and crazy weather, a natural hot springs spa called the Blue Lagoon, amongst other things. But it couldn't possibly flourish as green??? Iceland was completely foreign. That of an alien planet. The terrain and composition was nothing I even thought existed on the planet Earth. Only something glimpse in fantasy or what one would think Pluto or some other distant ball would be made up of. So why on Earth is the land here so fruitful? It is a volcano hot spot. The soil is rich with nutrients and minerals to support an abundance of growth and life. But any traveler at first glance would not of even stayed, in my opinion, as it is a barren wasteland alien to this whole planet, and it most certainly is not green! Don't get me wrong it is very beautiful in its own rite of uniqueness. But, in correlation, I have to set course for Greenland in the future to see for my own eyes the lie.
